Bagless Day

DPS Rishikesh enthusiastically observed Bagless Day on 26th July, with a wide range of engaging and hands-on activities conducted across all classes, encouraging students to learn through observation, expression and collaboration.

The day began on a peaceful note with a rejuvenating yoga session, promoting mindfulness, calmness, and a healthy start.

Classes 9 and 10 brought history to life through roleplays on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the French Revolution, offering students a deeper insight into revolutionary events. Class 12 explored the types of leaves, learning about photo inhibition, vein arrangements, and natural adaptations for conserving water.

Class 8-A took part in two insightful activities—Data Handling in Mathematics, where students collected data and presented it using pie charts, and a Moral Science activity on Civic Sense, promoting cleanliness and responsible disposal of waste.

The Queen of Sheeba activity in Class 7-A aimed to educate students about the diverse world of plants and their numerous uses. Through this interactive experience, students explored various plant species, learning about their medicinal, culinary, and cultural significance.

Class 6-B and 8-A collaboratively explored shapes and mathematical operations, strengthening spatial awareness and teamwork. Meanwhile, Class 6-A participated in a self-awareness activity through drawing, expressing their emotions and learning to understand others through art.

Cyber safety was also addressed through informative videos, making students aware of online threats and protective measures.

Class 5 conducted a creative Maths activity where students calculated the area of objects like swings, desks, and tables using the measurement of their own hands, encouraging practical and relatable application of concepts.

In the primary wing, Class 3 explored the House of Hundreds, developing a strong understanding of place value. Class 4 engaged in two activities—Clock Making to understand time, and Word Formation for enhancing spelling and vocabulary.

In Hindi, Class 4 delved into the lesson “Daan ka Hisaab”, learning the true meaning of selfless giving and humility, especially when placed in a position of power.

Younger classes enjoyed a listening game that fostered attentiveness and quick response.

Language skills were showcased through inter-house Hindi competitions—extempore for Classes 3–5, quiz for Classes 6–8, and debate for Classes 9–12.

Bagless Day at DPS Rishikesh proved to be a dynamic and meaningful celebration of learning without books, nurturing curiosity, creativity, and consciousness in students.
