Maths Activity (Grade 3-5)

As part of Mathematics Week, engaging activities were conducted for Grades 3 to 5.

In Grade 3, students explored the concept of the number system and expanded form using everyday objects like books, boxes, and pencils to represent hundreds, tens, and ones respectively. This hands-on approach helped them clearly understand place value and how to write numbers in their expanded form.

In the "Tick-Tock" activity, Grade 4 students created working clocks to learn about time concepts. They understood hour and minute hands, a.m./p.m., and 12-hour and 24-hour clock conversions. This hands-on experience helped students grasp time-telling skills and develop a clear understanding of time units.

In Grade 5, an innovative activity on calculating area without using a scale was conducted. Students estimated the area of objects around them—like desks, swings, and whiteboards—by using their hand area as a unit of measurement. This encouraged estimation skills and spatial understanding in a fun, practical manner.
